Archimedes Project is a unique organization that uses the power of entrepreneurship to create life-saving ventures around the world. We work closely with an entrepreneur to research the market, generate startup ideas, vet those ideas and take them to market. Gathered partnership, knowledge gathered from successes and failures, means that each venture we start is stronger than the last.
As an Archimedes Project donor, you enable the next generation of international development. Your support means that Archimedes Project can identify more aspiring entrepreneurs who have the desire and potential to make lasting change, and to work with those entrepreneurs to build more ventures.
In 2017, Fitsum Gelaye spent 12-weeks as a Social entrepreneur fellow researching the sanitation market in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During her fellowship, she was able to create an ecosystem map of organizations working in Addis as well as determine customer wants and needs.
In 2016, Jennifer Vargas examined the drinking water market in Honduras to understand how government, non-profit and for-profit companies were meeting and failing to meet the needs of customers, especially in marginalized peri-urban and slum communities.
We launched Kouzin Dlo in July 2014 with entrepreneur Jessica Laporte. The initial idea, Community Chlorinators, was the result of a November 2013 Ideation Lab. Jessica and the Archimedes Project team worked closely to develop the idea into a launch plan. The 2014 launch employed human-centered design and design thinking to appropriately adjust the plan to the context.
We have been able to work in eight countries in four years because of our philanthropic investors.
